Why has it been so easy to score A in today's SPM? Dating back to my exam year in 1998, there were less than 10 students obtaining A in this discipline. To say scoring straight As was definitely an impossible mission. Nowadays, 'A' has got no meaning. It is no longer a good yardstick to segregate the good from the weak. Perhaps, the exam papers were not up to scratch? I wonder how the 14 or 17 As scorers managed their time to study a bountiful of information. The exams questions were rather too direct and simple? The SPM exam board should review the questions, taking old papers (80s or 90s) as their benchmarks to set new questions. Otherwise, SPM is not an assessment but rather a 'sure pass' test.
